• Reasons Why You Should Consider Installing Solar Screens in Your Home

    Sun and puffy clouds

With summer on the horizon, now is the perfect time to prepare your home with optimal sun protection. Welcome the season by incorporating products that lower energy costs and optimize comfort into your home’s design. Solar screens can lower the temperatures inside the house and the amount on your utility bill. Keep reading to find out how:

They Absorb UV Light Instead of letting potentially dangerous ultraviolet light shine through your windows, solar screens are able to absorb it and reflect it back outside. Not only does this get rid of glare that could hinder your television watching experience, but it also protects your furniture from fading. Solar shades are a great investment into the future of your interior design.

They Save You Money Solar screens also block heat from penetrating the windows, which keeps your home comfortably cool. Without the need to lower the thermostat, you can escape the summer heat inside your home. Simply installing solar screens could even lower your air conditioning costs by up to forty percent. If you place them on the exterior of the window, they keep heat inside during the winter and lower your heating costs.

They Offer Privacy without Blocking the View Solar shades all you to keep the interior of your house private from the world outside without disrupting your own view. You can still see clearly outside and enjoy the benefits of natural light in your décor without the glare. Solar screens help you make your home more comfortable for summer living.

  • A Basic Guide to Retractable Awnings

    Florist Shop

Retractable awnings are a great addition to any deck, porch, or patio. Their ability to keep outdoor gatherings protected from the elements makes them a valuable asset to any property owner, residential or commercial. Read on for an overview of retractable awnings and their variations:

Manual Or Automatic You have two options for retracting your retractable awnings. The first option is “manual retraction,” which, as its name suggests, involves turning a crack by hand to raise or lower your awnings. Automatic awnings use a motor for the retraction, which drives up the price a bit. The exact cost difference varies greatly, but in general you could expect a premium of around $300 for the automatic awnings. For an extra cost, you can even equip your automatic awnings with special sensors that are designed to activate the motor based on the weather.

Awning Material Awnings can be made out of any type of water-resistant fabric, such as canvas or vinyl. From there, many manufacturers add additional fabrics or additives to improve strength, aesthetics, durability, and weather resistance. Examples include UV-resistant vinyl, breathable acrylic yarn to release trapped heat, and high-tensile fibers to better resist wind.

Support Material Awning manufacturers and installers alike state that the frame over which the fabric is stretched is the most important part of the awning structure. Support legs are usually not necessary on top-quality products, so awnings that feature these should generally be passed over. Frames are most commonly made of extruded steel or lighter aluminum; of these, extruded steel contributes much more strength and durability. This may cost a bit more than aluminum, but this premium is worth every penny.

We always stock a wide array of premium awnings here at Moran Canvas Products, and will gladly custom-make one upon request to fit your exact specifications.
